The Italian Lakes Open Tour invites you to enjoy seven unforgettable nights and eight exceptional days behind the wheel of your cherished car, exploring some of Europe’s most captivating and carefully selected driving routes. More than a tour, it is a celebration of beautiful roads, spectacular scenery, fine gastronomy and the pleasure of travelling with fellow enthusiasts who share the same passion.
Our journey begins on the shores of Lake Maggiore, in the elegant town of Stresa, where we will spend the first two nights. Framed by the Alps and overlooking the Borromean Islands, Stresa provides a refined and atmospheric introduction to the tour. During our stay, we will visit the magnificent Isola Bella and its stunning Baroque palace, a masterpiece of Italian aristocratic splendour surrounded by exquisite terraced gardens.
From there, we continue towards the iconic Lake Como, where we will spend three nights immersed in one of Italy’s most celebrated landscapes. Renowned for its dramatic scenery, elegant historic villas and timeless charm, Lake Como offers the perfect balance of exceptional driving and relaxation. One of the highlights of the tour will be a private boat trip to Villa del Balbianello, a lakeside jewel famous for its rich history, magnificent gardens and appearances in several iconic films.
Our adventure then continues east to the enchanting Lake Garda, where we will spend the final two nights of the tour. This region offers a different yet equally captivating atmosphere, combining Mediterranean charm with an impressive Alpine backdrop. Here we will enjoy some of Northern Italy’s finest secondary roads, winding through vineyards, rolling hills and picturesque villages full of character.
Throughout the tour, guests will enjoy a carefully selected collection of luxury hotels, outstanding regional cuisine and exclusive cultural experiences, all meticulously organised to create an unforgettable journey. ARRIVAL AT THE REGINA PALACE HOTEL
Participants will arrive around midday at the elegant Hotel Regina Palace, a distinguished property ideally located in Stresa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Renowned for its magnificent Belle Époque architecture, refined atmosphere and impeccable service, the hotel provides an exclusive and welcoming setting—an ideal place to begin this unforgettable journey. Upon arrival, the Classics on the Road team will personally welcome participants and present the tour welcome pack. We will spend the first two nights at this superb hotel, allowing plenty of time to settle in and enjoy both the beautiful surroundings and the exceptional facilities. The tour will officially begin with a welcome reception, where guests can enjoy a drink while meeting fellow participants and admiring the wonderful collection of classic and sports cars taking part in the tour. It will be the perfect opportunity to get to know one another before embarking on this shared adventure through Northern Italy. Later in the evening, we will gather for a welcome dinner in one of the hotel's elegant dining rooms. During dinner, the tour briefing will introduce the following day's route, together with the highlights, scenic drives and exclusive experiences awaiting us throughout the week. This first evening sets the tone for an unforgettable Tour, combining exceptional driving roads, beautiful landscapes, outstanding hospitality and the pleasure of travelling alongside fellow enthusiasts who share a passion for classic and sports cars. -
END OF THE TOUR AT LAKE GARDA
After breakfast, it will be time to bid farewell as our Italian Lakes Open Tour comes to an end.Following check-out from the hotel, participants will begin their individual journeys home or continue with their own travel plans at their leisure. There is no organised driving programme today, allowing complete flexibility for everyone to travel at their own pace.Over eight unforgettable days, you will have explore some of the finest driving roads in Northern Italy, discover the timeless beauty of Lakes Maggiore, Como and Garda, enjoy exceptional hotels and gastronomy, and share memorable experiences with fellow enthusiasts of classic and sports cars.Classics on the Road not only organises fine tours, we also build lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. We look forward to welcoming you on this great driving adventure. -
LAKE COMO AND VILLA DE BALBIANELLO
Today we slow the pace to fully appreciate the beauty, elegance and timeless charm of Lake Como, one of Italy's most celebrated destinations. After breakfast, the group will board private boats for a memorable cruise across the lake. As we glide past elegant waterfront villas, colourful villages and dramatic Alpine scenery, drinks will be served on board, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe from a unique perspective. Our destination is the magnificent Villa del Balbianello, undoubtedly one of the most iconic villas on Lake Como. Accessible only by boat or on foot, this extraordinary estate occupies a spectacular wooded peninsula and is renowned for its elegant architecture, breathtaking terraced gardens and unrivalled lake views. On arrival, we will enjoy a private guided visit of both the villa and its magnificent gardens. We will discover the fascinating history of the estate, admire its beautifully preserved interiors and learn about the remarkable collections assembled by its former owner, explorer Guido Monzino. The villa has also become famous worldwide as a filming location for productions such as Casino Royale or Star Wars, adding an extra touch of glamour to this exceptional visit. Afterwards, we return by private boat to our hotel, once again enjoying the tranquillity and elegance that make Lake Como so unique. The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to relax at the hotel, take a stroll through the charming streets of Lecco or Malgrate, enjoy a lakeside aperitif, or simply admire the ever-changing views across the water. In the evening, we will gather once again for a group dinner at the hotel, bringing to a close another unforgetable day combining culture, history, spectacular scenery and the unmistakable atmosphere of the italian lakes. -
LAKE COMO TO LAKE GARDA
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Lake Como and begin another memorable driving day as we head east towards the beautiful shores of Lake Garda, following a carefully designed route through some of Northern Italy's most captivating landscapes. Today's drive has been created to maximise the pleasure of driving, combining flowing secondary roads with spectacular scenery. One of the highlights of the day is the visit to the springs of the River Oglio at Boario (or adapt if Enna intended), before continuing along the breathtaking roads that follow the shores of Lake Iseo, one of Italy's most charming and less-discovered lakes. Framed by vineyards, wooded hills and picturesque villages, Lake Iseo offers a wonderfully authentic atmosphere and some truly enjoyable driving. Throughout the day, the Road Book will suggest a selection of panoramic viewpoints, ideal for short photo stops and to fully appreciate the changing landscapes. There will also be recommended cafés and restaurants where participants may enjoy coffee or lunch at their own pace, discovering the warm hospitality and regional cuisine of Northern Italy. In the afternoon, we arrive at the elegant Splendido Bay Luxury Spa Resort, a five-star lakeside retreat located on the southern shores of Lake Garda. Surrounded by peaceful gardens and overlooking the crystal-clear waters of Italy's largest lake, the hotel offers luxurious accommodation, outstanding facilities and an idyllic setting in which to relax after another rewarding day behind the wheel. Following check-in and some time to unwind, we will gather for a group dinner at the hotel's restaurant, enjoying excellent Italian cuisine while reflecting on another unforgettable day exploring the spectacular roads of the Italian Lakes. -
LAKE GARDA AND VISIT TO MASERATI FACTORY
Today is dedicated to discovering the beauty of Lake Garda, Italy's largest and most diverse lake, while enjoying a memorable automotive experience. After breakfast, we will depart for guided visit to the Maserati Factory, where participants will discover the fascinating history of one of Italy's most prestigious automotive marques. The Factory visit offers a unique insight into Maserati's heritage, engineering excellence and racing achievements, making it an essential visit for enthusiasts of classic and sports cars. Following the visit, the remainder of the day will be at leisure. The Road Book includes a carefully curated selection of recommendations to help you make the most of your free time. You may wish to discover charming lakeside villages such as Sirmione, with its medieval castle and Roman ruins, stroll through the elegant streets of Desenzano del Garda, or simply relax by the lake enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere. Those who prefer another drive can follow one of the recommended scenic routes around the lake or explore nearby attractions at their own pace. In the evening, we will gather for our Farewell Dinner at the hotel, celebrating the final night of the tour in a warm and convivial atmosphere. It will be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on an unforgettable week of spectacular roads, breathtaking landscapes, outstanding hospitality, new friendships and our shared passion for classic and sports cars. -
LAKE MAGGIORE AND ISOLA BELLA
After breakfast, we will board a private boat for a short crossing across the tranquil waters of Lake Maggiore to the enchanting Isola Bella, one of the jewels of the Borromean Islands. On arrival, we will enjoy a guided visit of this extraordinary island, exploring its magnificent 17th-century Baroque palace, lavishly decorated state rooms and spectacular terraced Italian gardens, home to rare plants, elegant fountains and the famous white peacocks that have become a symbol of the island. The history of the Borromeo family and the island's remarkable transformation into one of Italy's most beautiful aristocratic residences make this an unforgettable cultural experience. Later in the morning, we will return by boat to Stresa, where the remainder of the day will be at leisure. Take time to stroll along the elegant lakeside promenade, browse the charming boutiques and cafés, or simply relax at the hotel while enjoying the magnificent views across the lake and the surrounding Alps. Lunch will be at your own arrangement, giving you the freedom to discover one of Stresa's many excellent restaurants or lakeside terraces. LEISURE DAY AT LAKE COMO
Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace, allowing you to discover the elegance, beauty and unique atmosphere that have made Lake Como one of Italy's most exclusive destinations for centuries. You may wish to explore some of the lake's most famous villas and gardens, including the magnificent Villa Carlotta, celebrated for its spectacular botanical gardens, impressive art collection and privileged lakeside setting. Alternatively, visit the elegant village of Cernobbio, home to grand historic residences such as Villa Erba and the world-famous Villa d'Este, one of Europe's most prestigious luxury hotels. For those who simply cannot resist another day behind the wheel, the roads surrounding Lake Como offer some of Northern Italy's finest driving. Winding lakeside routes, panoramic mountain roads and charming villages provide countless opportunities to enjoy both the scenery and the pleasure of driving your classic or sports car through one of Europe's most beautiful landscapes. STRESA TO LAKE COMO
After breakfast, we leave Stresa and begin one of the most enjoyable driving days of the tour as we make our way towards the legendary Lake Como, following a carefully designed route through the elegant landscapes of Northern Italy. Today's itinerary has been created especially for those who appreciate great driving roads. We will enjoy a selection of beautiful secondary roads that combine sweeping bends, gentle climbs and picturesque lakeside stretches, passing through charming villages and the rolling countryside of Lombardy. Along the way, we skirt the shores of Lake Lugano, where Italian and Swiss scenery blend seamlessly, before continuing towards the dramatic mountains that frame Lake Como. The route offers a perfect balance between driving pleasure and breathtaking scenery, with countless panoramic viewpoints inviting you to stop, take photographs and simply enjoy the beauty of the Italian lakes. Lunch will be at your own arrangement, giving you complete freedom to stop in one of the many picturesque villages or lakeside restaurants encountered along the route. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the elegant Hotel Griso Collection, where we will spend the next three nights. Situated in Malgrate, on the eastern shore of Lake Como, this stylish hotel enjoys one of the finest panoramic positions overlooking the lake, the city of Lecco and the surrounding Alpine peaks. Its comfortable rooms, welcoming atmosphere and spectacular terrace make it the perfect base from which to discover one of Italy's most iconic destinations. After time to relax and settle in, we will gather for a group dinner at the hotel's restaurant, enjoying fine regional cuisine while admiring the magnificent evening views across Lake Como.
